For 15 years, Evan selflessly dedicated his summers to working with children with Autism through the S.P.E.A.K. Extended School Year program. Evan had the ability to make immediate, meaningful connections, and the children gravitated to him. Many students would ask for Evan even before the program started each summer! He was their friend and advocate. His kind heart, understanding, and compassion were evident in his interactions. Evan’s calm demeanor and genuine care for the children was obvious. He treated each child with dignity and respect. It was truly heartwarming to watch Evan educate and nurture the children. He developed a positive rapport with students, families, and staff. Evan’s smile was contagious, and he had the ability to make everyone around him smile as well. He was an integral part of creating a safe and caring environment that provided our students with meaningful experiences. Our program, and most importantly our students, benefited from Evan’s involvement. His contributions to the program and influence on the lives of the children he worked with have created a lasting impression.
